Wheat Paste – Austin Street Art

Just South of 5th Street, the Lamar Bridge railroad underpass is a hot spot for street art. Driving northbound you are almost guaranteed to see street art on the concrete walls. Mainly taking the form of wheat paste and always in some way witty, funny, political or just plain fun.

The City of Austin does sand down the pieces, but, inevitably another piece goes up. So driving up Lamar is kind of like a drive through rotating installation art gallery. Which is really nice when you’re stuck in traffic during rush hour.
